Perempuan Mahardhika Condemns the Bombing and Military Aggression of the United States Against Venezuela.
Stop the Attempt to Destroy the Political Independence of the Venezuelan People!
On Saturday evening (January 3, 2026), the President of the United States, Donald Trump, issued a claim that the U.S. military had captured the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, along with his wife, Cilia Flores. Shortly before this announcement, President Nicolás Maduro declared a State of National Emergency following air strikes targeting the capital city of Caracas as well as the states of Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira. At approximately 2:00 a.m. local time on Saturday, at least seven major explosions were reportedly heard in Caracas, accompanied by low-flying military aircraft over the capital.
Perempuan Mahardhika strongly condemns these actions and views them as a systematic attempt at territorial subjugation, the imposition of colonial warfare, and the destruction of the political independence of the Venezuelan people. For more than two decades, the United States has imposed sanctions on Venezuela designed to strangle its economy. Economic warfare through the obstruction and restriction of Venezuelan oil exports which fund the import of food, medicines, and public services constitutes a deliberate strategy by the Donald Trump administration to engineer conditions of mass deprivation, similar to what we are currently witnessing in Gaza.
Perempuan Mahardhika urgently calls for the immediate release of President Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores, and demands an end to U.S. military attacks and economic sanctions against Venezuela.
These actions represent grave and blatant violations of international law, as well as the principles of equality and national sovereignty. International solidarity and cross-democratic movements are urgently needed to press forward these demands.
